What`s the longest trip any nutter has done just to collect cars or parts ?
I went to Bacup in Lancs for the Camaro. Down to Newton Abbott for the Vette.
Up to Gateshead for a pozi and I`m going again tommorrow to collect a front end of a Camaro and have a looky at a 350 vette engine/gearbox for a project.
Must be mad,300 miles up,say hello to the bat of the north then 300 back with a car full of bits n bobs. Then Sunday down to Arena Essex for the big car boot sale, lookin` for a model Y
Several years ago Sniper & I went to Wales to get some fire engine bells, when he had a 1952 Commer fire engine. Bought 3 bells, kept 1 and sold the other 2 making enough momey to pay for our weekend away!
Bought the Zodiac from Southampton. Hadn't even seen it before. When on holiday on the Isle of wight (Lads only!) we spent half the time in the local scrappy's, and came back loaded down with stuff, including two doors, three front windscreens, one back screen and god knows what else. Plus all our tents and camping gear!

But that's half the fun of this sport! The traveling, meeting new people, seeing parts of the country you never seen before, the thrill of the open road....! OK, I've lost the plot, I'll get me coat!
`pends on what the parts are if you have `m shipped or not.If I can I prefer to visit n collect.if it`s regular service bits like belts, gaskets and the like the shippings fine. The trip up North revealed the free offer of a 250 auto box,5 free cherry bombs,a looky at the V8 for the project and collection & transportation of the front end of a Camaro. On the way back stopped off at Castleford auto`s for a looky at a Ford Torino and while purchasing some gaskets learnt of a couple of Trans Ams being parted out. We left the auto box as it fits a V6 only n took the Cherrys of which one has been passed on for £25.
Went out n collected more parts to-day at arena essex, wolferace and a grill surround for a model Y and best of all a flashy steering wheel for the Vette.paid for by my mate paying for n collecting bits from me.
Yeah, cheers for that chevy. They wont fit in my Rod.
As on our forum. I was thinking of Mc Donalds, Tollgate for a start point to cruise up to Wheelsday. It should be easy enough for anyone from Ipswich to find too. Dexter wants to meet at South Mimms on the way. I guess that means going anti clock around the M25. Wont be able to burn everyone off at the toll booths at dartford either grrrr.
Last Sunday it was a quick trip from Mersea Island over to Cheltenham n back to pick up a space frame drag race chassis (number registered ) for the Bug re-build.Saturday was down to Hastings for a Bug rear lid.
The week before it was Peterborough to pickup a `74 Opel, the week before that it was Leeds for boby panels n glass for the Fasty (just sold it on E Bay).an the week before that it was to Beckenham for a Stinger n Sittingbourne for wheels.
Jus` gettin` over another road trip......................Down to Tiverton with a trailer to bring back a Manta (baby corvette) cos James needs the rear axle for the Kadette.
A round trip of 13 hours in the saddle n 3 tanks of fuel.
He`s making his money back already as thetre is a waiting list to pay good money for the bits he doesn`t need (most of it)
