sisters bf has been buying max power mag for years see added up how much he had spent and it was loads of money he could have bought a realy nice car instead of drooling over others in the mag
went on saturday and i thought it was ok but that was it, Nothing really great!!!, the drag strip show was ok but to be honest the best bit was the drifting but even so they were no better than me in the cosworth so no really impressed . the only half decent bit was LAPLAND and even then it wasn't great..
went on sunday... got there at 10 was bored by 1.30...
glad i did'nt pay to get in (u gotta love media passes )
i think its all to commercial now... u pay £25 to get in, another tenner for the strip, another few pounds for a AAA pass and then still raped for £4.95 for a stale baguette and a bottle of flat coke.
i wouldnt mind paying if it was worth it, but cars that i've seen before at every show this year, and food that you wouldn't feed to animals kinda puts people off.
i'll still go to these shows, for as long as i get tickets, but i feel sorry for the others who have to pay to be b bored after a few hours, while certain companies reap the rewards and book their holiday in the bahamas!
Sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your day, I guess you were looking forward to it. Does sound, as you said that it's all got too commercial, which is a shame.
I'm into Patchwork & quilting and one of the big shows, which used to be run by a group of ladies who enjoyed sewing, has been taken over by a company only interested in making money and you've guessed it, it's gone down hill ever since. My sewing teacher used to run 3 coach trips to the event, now she can't manage to fill 1 coach, let alone the 3 that she used to. Sign of the times, I think.
We now stick to the smaller locally run show, both Patchwork & car show and enjoy both, neither are commerical and are run by quilters/classic car owners for quilters/classic car owners.
Why not save your pennies and come to Mersea next year. we're a friendly bunch.
My god!!! I've got Radio Suffolk on and they're playing the Scissor Sisters!! Shock, well that's made day!

Sad thing is there is no obligation on anyone to carry on where the above left off, if its not your thing then you wont be 'prepared' to take over. Least I've got a varied taste in cars, we do go to Classic shows, and I do like hot rods, but also modern performance cars too
I went to MPL few years back as my friend got free tickets, I have no suggestion to improve it but I was bored! Too many women in underwear, not that many cars on show (the ones that were were over the top IMO) and the trade stands weren't all that either, I can safely say will never go again.
Max Power mag was good about 10 years ago, then went downhill, so many modifiers think its shite I really can't see how they still sell so many mags

Most people agree that Max Power was at it's best about 10 years ago.
Talking about classic cars, hot rods and modern hot hatches and the like, I wonder how many of the latter will be still be on the road in 10 or even 20 years time or will all be just a distant, happy memory for some. Time will tell on that one........

I reckon your a closet rodder, when`s the "coming Out" party ???
Modded or rodded, rodded or modded it doesn`t matter which way round you write it the result is the same! Basically your a car nut, your car plus wooleys and others of the same quality of style/refurb presentation etc are worthy of the title "New Skool".
A couple of years ago at the Nats a "New Skool" car went away with a prize & the bloke was as chuffed as could be.It was a black Jap coupe on hydraulics (Spelling?).
