yeah and work on you they will....... (sorry, should say we will, I'm a convert after this year's Mersea Motor Madness, if I couldn't beat Sniper, thought I'd better join him).
Any way, if you look up the word hot rod in a dictionary, all of you that moddify a car are hot rodders, becasue the the word hot rod means to moddify an engine to improve it's proformance & speed.
Hopefully,if some asks Vee8 nicely there may be an area set a side at the Mersea Show for "Mod Rods" .If there is,then there must also be a prize for the best one in that catagory.
And by following the thought process along further, why not have a "Mod Rod" club under the NASC,there areplenty of benefits to be had including Car Insurance.
Just coz Viki is on your forum dont make her a hot rod she was put on there with out my permission but as i didnt mind deuce putting it on there i never said n e thing. Hey, I'm truly sorry if we've upset you mate, I'm sure that wasn't our intention and hope you haven't taken offence. You're right, it's a big world, and to each their own. I guess we must come across as something like Jehova's witneses at times, trying to convert everyone and get them to 'see the light.' Let's all live and let live, and accept that, despite our differences, under the skin we are all kindred spirits.
So you wouldn`t like to do the world famous "Chelsea cruise" then as it was started by cruisers for cruisers. LOL
Then of course there`s always Guildford & Southend on Sea with dragin up the Westcliff Road.
Me thinks I`ll be tartin`me & hers Mondys into late model modified. Both have lecy windows, seats,Air,CD,Alloys, leather.one is a V plate.the other a an 03.What else do I need ?Ah yes, there`s a V6 in one and a baby 2.0 in the other.I reckon that with a wheel chang I could pick up a prize in a Mod Rod class LOL
Oh dear... I dont think it's good to be ramming it down throats Either. If I have mentioned anything like that it's all been tongue in cheek.
Thats why we have a hot rod room on this forum. Anyone who wants us will find us.
There's nothing wrong owning a modern custom car. Theres nothing wrong owning a Hot Rod, Yank, Classic or Kit either. Just that the Modern scene is probably closest to the Hot Rod scene. Having started with the same roots only have gone up slightly different branches. You can learn from us and vice versa. Chelsea, Guildford, Southend...cruising was started by hot rodders. Frenching, nose and decking, wheels etc also. Not to forget drag racing. So What is different? Only one thing....the type of car. As audio has improved over the years then that has become popular too.
Younger folk have to customise the cars they drive daily. Cant afford V8's cos of insurance etc. We shouldn't forget that we had exactly the same problem when we started out.
I reckon we should keep persuasion to the Hot room when people who are that way inclined would want to find out more.
Guys as said above we all know what we like and don't like ....... i'm with Woolley i like to rant about the fact that halfords know less about ICE than i do ....... and that's saying summit really ......... you know more about Rods than we do ...... we all have our good sides and bad sides lets all go along in peace coz i'm really too hammered for this have u ever tried typing it all on word toi spell check it then copy and paste so it makes sense?? it works WOOHOO just takes an ickle while

i think that each to their own, i like hot rods cos they are always perfectly done, no bodged jobs, on the engine side tho, i beleive that u can get more power from a 4 cyl turbocharged engine and still get better economy.
i'd never buy a hot rod to go fast, even if it did it prob wouldn't corner or handle half as well as a little hot hatch but then again y go fast if u look good.
