So there i was happily looking around for a set of 5" x 7" speakers for my mates car thinking Halfords / Motorworld might stock some ........ so there i go skipping into Halfords .... 'I've seen the 5"x7" infinity's on your site on the Internet do you have any in stock'? 'Hold on' comes the reply from what looks to be a hybrid of the Waltons / Lost In Space ....... off he goes into the warehouse to ask the question. 5 Minutes later he retuns 'No sorry' comes the reply but we have the 6"x9"s here that might interest you!! UH HUH i'm thinking OI DOPEY F*CK DON'T YOU THINK IF I WANTED THE LARGER SIZE I WOULD'VE ASKED. I quickly declined his offer to show me how they worked (coz i obviously don't know how to press the button on the wall) and went to Motorworld SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. Ok so do they employ from the same family??? As you can guess i came away from Town that day empty handed (no i wasn't even tempted by the 6"x9"s). Try Alpha Car Audio my boyfriend tells me ..... I'm sure they'll be able to help.
So off i go searching through their fine array of speakers and i find a decent set of alpine for under £70 excellent i'll have them. Ordered them everything was fine and dandy. So lets fast forward to last night; i get home from Work and there's a package 'Them speakers have arrived' my mum shouts, excellent so i run upstairs and rip open the package .................................... OK So NOT ONLY WERE THESE SPEAKERS THE WRONG SIZE BUT THEY WERE ALSO THE WRONG MAKE!!!!!!!!!!! I was sent *wait for it* a set of PIONEERS 6"x9" So as you can tell at this point i was debating on how many Waltons there really are or whether it was just the guy from Halfords getting his own back

I wouldn`t accept advice from Halfords, they tried to sell me a negative earth Rad/Cass for a positive earth car.
Always buy from a specialist, someone who knows about the subject, you may be paying a little bit more than you would at Halfords but you would be getting best advice
I don't know he is still in buisness, but Dave Wallis used to be very good, from I've heard. Also have you tried Wilko's, the one of Norwich Road in Ipswich appears to be quite good.
Yeah Dave Wallis is still in business BUT like Ipswich Car Audio they only stock a small selection of speakers therefore you have problems finding what you want. Halfords tend to have a team that are supposed to specialise in certain areas ...... I.E Paint Team / Audio Team etc ... you have to appreciate that maybe the guy was away. As for Motorworld .... REALLY they need to sort their staff out!! Wilco tend to stock un-named brands at very cheap prices which is great if you don't want a lot of power and aren't really all that bothered. Since the last post anyway i finally have the speakers i want and have gona somewhere else for the others *touch wood* the others should be ok.
